IT’S SHOW TIME:

Get out those big horses, start cleaning, working and brushing off all that long winter hair! It’s show time! Our GDHA Spring Fun Show is scheduled for Saturday,April 24. A complete Show booklet is attached with all the information, classes & entry form included. Contact Jill Malone for any show questions. Her contact information is included. Also attached is a donation form if anyone would like to help out with the show expenses! All size donations are always appreciated.

ANNOUNCING NORTH GEORGIA OPEN SHOW:

MISS MOLLY:

She was known as Miss Molly, Miss Molly Spots, and during the Olympics she was referred to as the Patchwork Horse. A judge at Perry once said, “Everyone needs a horse like her.” Well, she finally said “enough is enough” and went to better pastures at the young age of 20. We miss her so much here at Double S Farm. She worked every weekend for many years at the Marietta Hilton and Conference Center, appeared in a movie with Tommy Lee Jones, met Henry Fonda while working at a Restaurant, hauled VIP’s in parades and made all of us very proud no matter where she was or what she did. She was a registered spotted draft, being the first Clydesdale cross in the registry way back when it first began in the early 90's. We carried Molly to Perry before there were any classes for her, just to show her off; however, she did not go without working – she brought the Judge, Ringmaster, and Queen to the show ring in a beautiful vis-a-vis, prancing all the way. As I believe the Perry Show Committee is now in the process of preparing the show for this year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank Carla and members of the show Committee for spending many hours working on a show schedule to include horses like Molly. Hopefully all of you with these magnificent animals will be appreciative
of the hard work of our Show Committee arranging classes to include all of its members in the show. Basically this is a breeding and hitch show of draft horses and they do NOT have to include any other type horses, but have been so gracious to enable those of us who have this “special” breed to participate. I was not fortunate enough to take Molly to Progress Days and other places where there were predominately spotted horses, so I was very happy to be able to take her to the GDHA’s Spring Show and Perry. In 2008 (her last show) she had a beautiful and talented young lady, Karissa Carpenter, show her. (pictured) The Show Committee made it possible for her to enter five (5) classes and she left each class with a ribbon (not always first, but she placed!)
Thanks again Perry Show Committee for making one Spotted Draft Horse owner very proud and pleased to have been a part of such an undertaking.
